Your Role

1. Role of a Mentee:
a. A mentee is responsible for actively participating in the mentorship program, seeking guidance, and actively working towards personal and professional growth.
b. A mentee should maintain open and respectful communication with their mentor, and be receptive to feedback and advice.
c. A mentee should demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and commitment throughout the mentorship program.


2. Expectations of Ethical and Professional Behaviour:
a. Treat mentors with respect and professionalism, recognizing their experience, knowledge, and
time.
b. Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of mentors. Do not share confidential or sensitive information discussed during mentoring sessions without explicit permission.
c. Avoid engaging in any form of discrimination, harassment, or disrespectful behavior towards mentors, fellow mentees, or program staff.
d. Be punctual and prepared for mentoring sessions. Value the mentors time by honoring agreed upon meeting schedules and being attentive during sessions.

e. Actively listen to and consider the mentors advice and feedback. Be open to constructive criticism and demonstrate A willingness to learn and grow.
f. Be honest and transparent in your communication with mentors, sharing your goals, challenges, and progress. Avoid exaggerating or misrepresenting your accomplishments or experiences.
g. Take initiative in seeking guidance and setting goals. Demonstrate proactive behavior by following through on action plans and suggestions provided by the mentor.
h. Maintain a growth mindset and actively engage in self reflection. Be open to new perspectives, ideas, and approaches to enhance your personal professional development.
i. Respect the boundaries and limitations set by mentors. Understand that mentors may have other professional commitments and may not be available 24/7.

3. Reporting Concerns:
a. if a mentee experiences any form of misconduct or unethical behavior from a mentor, they should report it immediately to the program coordinator or designated authority.
b. All reports of misconduct or unethical behavior will be taken seriously, an appropriate measure will be taken to address and resolve the issue in a confidential and fair manner.


4. Program Completion and Evaluation:
a. On completion of the mentorship program, approximately six months, mentee’s may be required to provide feedback or participate in an evaluation process to help improve the program and assess its effectiveness.
b. Mentors are encouraged to maintain professional relationships with their mentors beyond the program if mutually agreed upon and deemed beneficial for both parties.
c. Alumni of the NextGen women mentorship program will be asked to volunteer as Ambassadors for our postsecondary and secondary events and presentations.

Your Measure of Success:
• Your success is measured by many milestones.
• Your mentor will reward you through notes, e-mails or simply conversation. He/she may tell you how
“great” you are, and help you with a specific concern, and so much more. It may be big or small.
• You will work with your mentor to establish mutual respect, motivation, and measurable goals. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you find any part of the guidelines unclear or confusing. The mentor coordinator is available to assist you in any way possible. Your commitment and dedication to your mentor may be the most profound opportunity that you experience. The quality of the relationship you build directly influences the life and future of yourself. Please exert every effort to maintain professional standards, improve your skills and exercise good judgment when engaged in any activity involving your mentor.

The essence of mentoring is the sustained human relationship: a one-on-one relationship that shows a mentee that he/she is valued as a person and is important to society.


CONFIDENTIALITY
All the information you are told about your mentor is confidential and sharing that information with others is prohibited. However, you are required to report certain things. Do promise a mentor that you will keep confidential information secret. It is critical, not only for the welfare of the mentor, but also to protect yourself that you adhere to these exceptions:

SUMMARY
These procedures are designed to protect the mentors and mentees from harm and to prevent even the appearance of impropriety on the part of NextGen Women and its participating mentors, volunteers, and mentees. One accusation could, at the very least, seriously damage the reputation of all those participating and endanger NextGen Women. Please know that we appreciate your participation in the mentorship program and that we appreciate your adherence to these procedures. If you have any questions, please call the mentor coordinator
